Maybe it was something they didn’t see the value doing or something that made them uncomfortable while doing it. There was an awkward quality to it, almost a foreignness that pushed them in a way to react as they did. Cheesy is a word filled with judgement, much like cringe.
My co-facilitator and I weren’t hurt or offended, if anything quite the opposite - thrilled they raised it, and could articulate their experience in a way that many others likely could relate to. For us, it was a signal of a job done. We facilitated a small transformation.
They were uncomfortable, but then could find comfort.

Working through discomfort, hanging out in your “stretch zone” or doing something cheesy are all tackling the same thing, helping someone move from A to B. So cheesy, awkward, weird, alternative etc. Bring it on. On the other side of them is something new.
