I have to admit, for someone who can’t even predict how he’ll feel next Wednesday, it feels presumptuous to offer you a prediction of the future. Besides, experts themselves apparently do no better than monkeys, and which so-called futurist foretold what was coming back in 2019? Evidently, hindsight is 20-20. While it’s beyond my ability to dispense any accurate advice about the future, I’m more confident when it comes to what’s not going to change - the human experience. Let me explain.
Life is a really single-player game which most people mistake for a multi-player game. Everything you ever do really revolves around you. Everyone else you meet is an NPC (non-playable character). Within your head, you hold a reality that’s unique to you. I cannot imagine this changing anytime soon. And as the main protagonist in your life story in the game of life, the good news is that it has never been easier to LARP as you.
Despite us having developed a gag reflex (in record evolutionary time!) for the term “influencers,” you as a creative type will be glad to hear that the creator economy is undergoing a full-blown renaissance. The Internet has shown us that there are infinite niches in its soft underbelly and you can make a living in just about anything these days, especially if you’re NiFTy enough. Though the top 1% are still eating the lion’s share of the cake (#classic) I’m optimistic that a middle-class is emerging.
It’s difficult to recall a time in human history where creative self-expression is not only encouraged and accessible and rewarded on such a large scale. Thus, it’s only fitting that I hereby pronounced the future is all about you. It always has been and it always will be. Now, you have to decide how you want it to play out.
See you out there.
Tré
P.S. Remember that it’s never about the people who don’t like it but about those who do.
