Pausing to consider what is the best approach in a new territory or context isn’t always our first response. Often we put down our heads, narrow our focus, block out the noise and execute the tasks, usually with a rate of energy that’s not exactly sustainable. It can only last so long before the side effects of such a response show up in other areas of work and life.
Feelings of guilt for not being or doing more in challenging times are not of use. It’s ok. We respond to what’s in front of us with whatever is accessible to ourselves. And that can really vary as I am sure we have all experienced. But just because you responded one way doesn’t mean that in the future you can’t respond in another.
In life and work, there are moments where we drive forward and others where we hang on. Obviously we aspire for more moments of the former.
The pause, the consideration and the reflection before acting in the face of change can be a difference maker. Welcome to Empowered, our new newsletter for leaders driving change.
