Course Overview
EXPERIMENTAL MINDSET

Explore what it means to have an experimental mindset in the digital age by exploring new tools, ways of doing, thinking and working.

The focus will be on supporting participants to develop key habits and mindsets that are biased towards experimentation.

 Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe the importance  experimentation in a digital world
  • Identify actions and behaviours that help or hinder experimentation;
  • Apply prototyping, testing and feedback as a way to learn and iterate solutions further
  • Involve stakeholders, team members in experiments
  • Select and apply effective tools and techniques that support experimentation.

What you will learn

 Visualise your ideas

Master the skill of articulation and visualisation. One of the reasons that the majority of our ideas do not materialise is because we remain abstract. It is hard to be specific. Continuously answering the question "how", and immediately visualising ideas or solutions is an experimental habit that distinguishes innovators from others.

 Build, Test, Improve

Try things out now! And my trying out we mean allowing the users to try and test out your ideas. People saying what they will do is not a predictor of their behaviour. That's why the best way to predict what they will do is by simply allowing them to use your solution. And then observe. Simulate your solution and let them respond spontaneously. Perhaps one of the most challenging experimental habits because we tend to make things perfect before bringing them out into the world to test.

 Storytell your Idea

The habit of storytelling with the listener's needs in mind, and using stories to engage is highly important. It is the driving skill that supports getting buy-in from key stakeholders. It is important to design for the user's needs. Yet, when getting buy-in we need to communicate our story to meet the listener's needs and expectations.
